Luke Andrews, Baron of Stockport, is in trouble. He needs a wealthy bride to secure future funds for his financially shaky estate, but the belle of the London season is a spoiled terror with an arrogant father. With the baron away, Chadwick will play — gambling the estate’s remaining funds into oblivion. He needs to devise his own scheme to replace the money he’s lost, before his brother returns.

In Stockport village, Brigitta Blackburn doesn’t have two sticks to rub together — literally. With the estate in financial distress and rents high, food and wood are scarce. When she sneaks onto the baron’s land to steal some firewood, she’s caught, hauled before the play-acting “baron,” Chadwick, and offered a solution to her plight… and his.

But Chadwick’s ruse embroils them all. How can Brigitta accept what she thinks to be true, when she really yearns to follow her heart?

A special treat for you!

It's been a long and cold winter. You would think with all of the time off I've had, that I would be able to get a lot done on the computer, but as my poor blog shows, that is not the case.

Between cleaning the house and keeping my four kids entertained, I've been busy and I will admit a little stir crazy!

BUT- if I had had a fabulous book to read, I might not have been so bored. With the library being closed, I couldn't get one.

Winter isn't over. We have two more months of this snow and bitterly cold air and I know you are going to be stuck in side with nothing to do. Can't get to a library or a book store? Well then, I am going to bring it to you!!!

That's right! I am hosting TWO WEEKS OF ROMANCE here! From February 1-14th, you can come here and meet more than one author each day. They will will tell you about a new release or a series they have and they are giving away prizes! That's right....

LOT'S OF AUTHORS..... LOT'S OF BOOKS... LOT'S OF PRIZES!

All you have to do is come here each day. Leave a message with your email address. The next day, I will pick a winner. If I have two authors, there are two winners. If I have three authors, there are three winners. See how it works! To see if you win, you have to go back to that day and look in the comment box! You will then have 48 hours to contact me or I will have to choose another winner and I would hate to do that.

So... I'm so excited, can't you tell!!!

Be here on Feb. 1st to start the two week give away! Tell your friends. Blast it on Facebook! Tweet about it. We want everyone to know! See ya soon!

Oh-. who will be here you ask. Well, I can't give you every name, I want it to be a surprise, but how about Cynthia Owens, Dawn Chartier, and Veronica Wolff for starters?

Interview with Author, MARY GILLGANNON

Today I’m interviewing Mary Gillgannon. Her book, Saint Sin, is a Regency historical romance and was released on August 28.

Please tell my readers a little bit about your book.

To save her brother from crushing gambling debt, Ariella Lyndgate is willing to do nearly anything. Offered an opportunity to cancel the debt by stealing a valuable diamond from a wealthy and dissolute earl known as “Saint Sin”, ariella agrees. She attends one of the earl’s parties and is searching her host’s bedchamber for the diamond when he walks in.

Set in the vivid Regency world of glittering ballrooms, sinister gambling hells and squalid back alleyways, Saint Sin explores the sizzling temptation and wrenching choices that face two desperate people who must risk everything for love.

Describe the genre of this particular title, and is the only genre you write in?

Regency romances take place between 1811 and 1820. Traditional Regencies are usually sweet and chaste but this one is quite sexy. In addition to this time period, I also write in the dark age and medieval eras and sometimes even earlier.

How did this story come to be?

I started this book over ten years ago. I was drawn to the Regency era because I find the contrasts of this time period so intriguing. There is great wealth and desperate poverty existing side-by-side. The upper classes engage in outrageously licentious behavior, and yet most people have to live by strict rules of propriety. Men could get away with almost anything in terms of sexual behavior, while ladies had to behave a certain way or risk being ruined. But a man’s honor was everything. If he didn’t pay his gambling debts, he was “done up” and disgraced. My heroine’s younger brother faces that prospect… and worse. That’s why she’s desperate enough to steal to save him, although she’s assuages her conscience that the diamond she’s after doesn’t really belong to the man who possesses it. But she certainly doesn’t expect to find herself intensely attracted to that man and eventually, to fall in love with him.

Did you have several manuscripts finished before you sold?

My early career was kind of a “Cinderella story” as I sold my first book less than two years after finishing it. By then I had two other books partially completed.

What is your writing routine like?

I usually start writing soon after getting up and write until it’s time to go to my day job, (I work in a public library.) or on weekends, begin my chores. I’m definitely not a morning person in any other way, but somehow it’s easy for me to transition from the “dream state” to a creative writing mode. But I do try to squeeze in more writing later in the day if I can.

Having achieved your goal to be a published author, what is the most rewarding thing?

Being able to share my stories with readers. I would write even if I wasn’t published, but it’s much more gratifying to have an audience.

Are you a member of any writing organizations and, if so, have they helped?

I’ve belonged to Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers for over twenty years. I found my first agent and editor through them and I still attend their conferences. On-line, I enjoy the Celtic Hearts Chapter of RWA.

What character is most like you or least like you?
All of my characters have a little of me in them, although I’m not as brave or as resourceful. But Aurora, the heroine of my first book, Dragon of the Island, is the most like me.

What most inspires you in life?

Nature and history. Nature because it’s the source of all life, the life we all had at one time. Our connection to animals and the natural world is primal and deep and we forget it at the peril of our souls.

What’s next for you?

I’m gradually re-releasing my previously published books as ebooks. In between that, I’m working on new projects, including a reincarnation romance series and a fantasy series based on Celtic and Norse legends.

BOOK BLURB

When decadent earl Michael St. Cyr, “Saint Sin”, discovers Ariella Lyndgate in his bedchamber, he assumes she’s a fashionable impure sent to entertain him. Caught in the act of stealing a diamond to pay off her brother’s ruinous debts, Ariella agrees to the dalliance. But as she continues the erotic deception, she finds herself falling for the enigmatic lord.

A little bit about the author.

I grew up in Illinois and Iowa and now live in Wyoming, where I met and married my husband. I’ve been writing for over 20 years and the question is whether I’ll live long enough to finish all the stories in my head.

Excerpt

“So,” he said. “Are you going to tell me what you're doing here? Or should I guess?”

She licked her dry lips. No plausible explanation came to mind. None.

He moved suddenly, coming to stand a few feet away. Her heart stopped. “Mmmm,” he said. “I assume that means I’ll have to guess. Let me think. I come to my bedroom to discover a beautiful young woman waiting for me. What could it mean? That I've died and gone to heaven and she's my reward?” He shook his head. “Doubtful. Very doubtful. Or, perhaps she wandered in here by mistake, looking for the water closet?” Ariella opened her mouth to agree, but he went on, “Yet that would seem very unlikely since there are half a dozen water closets between here and the ballroom. No, I think you must be here for something else.”

He moved nearer, his gaze assessing. She surveyed him as well, observing the faint lines etching his elegant features. The long, lean power of his body. The way strands of his raven hair had escaped the black ribbon tying it. Another oddity. No men she knew wore their hair in a queue.

He still held a half-empty wine glass, cradling it in graceful fingers. “Mmmm,” he said again, with a kind of feigned amazement. “You're dressed like a Cyprian more than a lady, but then it's hard to tell about such things these days.” Smiling tightly, he added. “Many ladies of my acquaintance indulge in behavior more suitable for a street corner doxy.”

He slowly circled her, perusing her body. By the time he came to stand in front of her once more, Ariella's heart was thudding in her chest like a drum. The key to the safe, concealed in her left hand, seemed to burn her fingers.

“Yes,” he said. “You make a delightful fashionable impure. The perfect blend of refinement and sensuality.” His gaze surveyed her once more. “But, the question remains, what is a luscious demi-rep doing in my bedchamber?” He raised his eyes to her face.

Ariella remained frozen, like a rabbit trapped by a predator. Then, all at once, the words came tumbling out. “I was sent here ... by a gentleman friend of yours.” It was only a half-lie.

His puzzlement seemed to intensify. “Sent here? As a gift?” He stared at her. Then a slow smile spread across his face. “Henley, the devil. He's always going on and on about how I need to get on with my life. Forget the past.” A dark look crossed his face, making him appear quite sinister. “As if I could forget. As if anyone ...” He took a deep breath and drained his wine glass in one gulp. Then he looked at the empty glass and a strange, almost savage expression suffused his features. “That's what I came here for, more wine.”

He crossed to the cabinet, seemingly forgetting she was in the room. Ariella wondered if she should make a dash for it. She was on the verge of doing so when he abruptly turned back to her. “So, tell me, what are your specialties? Women like you often cater to certain tastes or proclivities.”

She stared at him dumbly. What was he talking about?

He drew near again. “What about your personal tastes? Do you like men who are rough? Or, do you prefer it slow and easy?”

She hoped she wasn't coloring too fiercely. A Cyprian wouldn't blush. She must maintain the illusion of sophistication.

“Perhaps you like games,” he said. “I could tie you up ... or ...” That slow smile again, beguiling, almost boyish, so in contrast to the dark, haunted expression. “... you could tie me up.”

That was it. The solution to her conundrum. “Yes,” she said. She tried to appear seductive. “I could tie you up. Henley actually suggested it.”

St. Cyr laughed, showing dazzling white teeth. “He did, did he? The bastard. I suppose that's part of his plan, that I should lose control. Indulge myself and stop thinking about ...” His mouth twitched. “All right, then. Let's proceed.” He glanced around the room. “What can you use to tie me?” He motioned for her to wait there, then moved swiftly to his dressing room.

As soon as he left the room, she glanced at the painting on the wall. Behind it was the safe and the Blue Moon. She edged toward it, fingering the key concealed in her hand. Before she reached it, she heard St. Cyr coming back. In a panic, she thrust the key between her breasts.

He reappeared, a half dozen ascot ties dangling from his hands. Smiling, he said, “Do you think you can manage with these?”

She should have fled while she had the chance. Now, she was well and truly trapped. Unless she could tie him up and manage to get to the safe before he could free himself. The vague, desperate idea tantalized her. How close she was to her goal. If she were clever, if she made use of his weaknesses, she might still be able to accomplish her objective. He was obviously inebriated. And perhaps a bit deranged. His shifts of mood were astonishing. She might be able to use his distraction and confusion to get what she wished.

“Come here.” His voice was velvety deep, enthralling. She could feel her body responding. That was the flaw in her plan. This man unsettled her. Intrigued her. He stood by the great, canopy-draped bed, looking elegant and mysterious. “Come here,” he said again.

She obeyed him, her insides fluttering. When she got within a couple of feet, she stopped. She could smell him. Wine and something else. Something darker and more threatening. His own scent. Male. Almost animal. He smiled at her, lazily, enticing.

“If you want to tie me up, you'll have to come closer.”

Relax. Remember your plan. The end justifies the means. You have a chance to save your brother. If you don't take it, you’re a coward. A miserable, worthless coward!

Interview with Author GINA DANNA!

Once upon a time, this vampire ran into this pirate….

Ah, the love of pirates! Okay, of Captain Jack Sparrow…The Pirates of the Caribbean holds the attraction of many fans across the world. And vampires…the following of The Vampire Diaries and True Blood still continues to this day. But what if these worlds collided?

Three years ago, I began my historical romance novel about a pirate in the West Indies (Caribbean) and set it during one of the eras I love to read about – Regency (c. 1800). But the story needed a twist, a different approach. I liked the above vampire stories and many more so why not make my hero Alexander, not only a pirate captain but also a vampire pirate?

The make that one elementary change plunged the tale into a new sphere. Sailors of that era and before and even later, believed the seas were home to many monsters and evil spots that lay waiting to devour them and their ships. The kraken was one of the well-known creatures, known to seep up and take everything down into the inky depths of the sea. Mermaids were sirens, also leading men to the deaths. In the Caribbean, voodoo was born during the European occupation as a way to strike fear into the white oppressors. Plus the tales of vampiric creatures prevailed in Europe for centuries since the Black Death. Therefore, why not make the superstitious sailors of the sea, who feared these evils along with the scourge of the seas, pirates, come to face their own evil – a vampire pirate?

Her Eternal Rogue is a historical fiction steeped in romance of Alexander and Lavinia, based on historic research of pirates and vampires in the structure of Regency England. Step into the depths of the period in the West Indies where Alexander ruled the seas as the infamous pirate, Captain Sword, his rescue of Lady Lavinia and their return to her home in London in a tale of the unexpected!

Her Eternal Rogue

Excerpt:

Alexander sat at the table and finished another glass of rum, mentally assessing the damage to his ship. And his unwanted guest. Though attempting to drown himself in three-fourths of a bottle of rum, he wasn’t nearly inebriated enough to dampen his growing desire for her.
Ian sat across the table from him, staring. Alexander knew the Scotsman too well to believe he’d stay silent much longer.
“So,” the Scotsman began. “When will ye tell the lassie she’s gonnae home?”
Alexander looked at him hard and poured himself another glass. “I’ll not be goin’ close to any British port with a damaged ship...”
“Ach, I see,” the Scotsman speculated. “So, you thinkin’ about keepin’ her fer yerself, then?”
“No,” Alexander answered too quickly, downing a gulp. An absurd thought, he knew, but so tempting.
“Well,” Ian continued. “Wi’ her stayin’ here, that’ll leave many tae believe we’re cursed wi’ a woman onboard and no charges lifted.”
Alexander laughed. Cursed by having a woman onboard? He’d tell them about curses…
“Fine, put her in the aft cabin till we’re through with…”
“Capt’n, ye cannae be placin’ her there,” Ian scolded, sounding like a father reprimanding his son. “Be pirates on this ship, sair, and puttin’ her there is more or less tellin’ the boys she’s fer sharin’.”
“What would you have me do?” Alexander barked. When Ian didn’t respond, Alexander downed another gulp. “Keep her where she is?”
“Aye.”
“Fine, then I’ll sleep in the aft cabin.”
“Capt’n,” Ian said quietly. “Ye cannae be doin’ that either.”
Alexander glared at the glass in front of him. Damn, the man was right. Pirate ships had no assigned quarters. Sleeping areas were open to all. But on The Lily, Alexander’s curse and the pirates’ fear of it, enabled him to claim the larger cabin exclusively. But he was furious at having to house the English aristocrat there. Too far below her station when he’d lived in England, he would have been denied access to her but here… He shook his head. He and his crew had a reward for her safe return, and he had to remember that. Ah yes, the reward. A clean slate—for the moment. A few months with no law in pursuit, leaving them open to rob whomever they wanted. A laugh but one both sides held for the British navy remained heavily occupied across the ocean with the French, too busy to chase every pirate on the seas.
Sharing quarters with her, being so close to her, was too dangerous for them both. Her body was designed to entice any man to wanton desires. A temptation he couldn’t ignore since he’d kissed her the first time he saw her. Truly decadent on his part, but piracy did allow deviations to any plan. He’d wanted to kiss those ruby lips, to invade her mouth and, as he’d plunged his tongue into her, she’d tasted sweet, like strawberries and cream. Everything about her made him want to bury himself deep inside her. He downed another mouthful of rum. He feared if he was alone with her for too long, he’d lose all his control. He’d never love her. The idea of him ever loving a woman had been squashed that night years ago. But lust remained…
No, he thought, she had to go and soon.
Furious at the situation and how the rum had failed to diminish his desires, Alexander slammed his glass down and left the galley.
When he opened his cabin door, he readied himself for her demand that he release her. Prepared for her verbal assault, he sighed with relief when he saw Lavinia curled up tight in the wingback chair, asleep. She did not even move at the sound of the door. The moonlight gave her an angelic glow. So young and full of life. Asleep, her blond hair tumbling over her shoulders and her bare ankles and dainty feet bent partway beneath her. His cock twitched with longing. A fairy asleep in the devil’s den. There’d be no arguments, no demands nor screams of protest coming from her tonight. But he could make her scream in ecstasy. He closed his eyes, burying his thoughts.
The boat swayed slightly, and he stumbled. Leaning against the doorframe, he felt his tension drain. His eyes shut, and he allowed the rum to overtake him, sliding to the floor and into the arms of oblivion.

Interview with Author, COLLETTE CAMERON

Today I’m interviewing Collette Cameron. Her book, Highlander’s Hope is a Regency Historical and was released on May 15, 2013.

Please tell us something about you that we wouldn’t find out on the internet.
Thank you so much for hosting me today, Sarah.

I almost didn’t submit Highlander’s Hope for publishing, thinking it wasn’t good enough. My beta readers and family convinced me to give it a try. So glad I did!

I love peppermint candy ice-cream, dill pickles, and smoked salmon. Too boring? Let’s see. . .

I had a pet pig as a child. I’ve been to Europe twice and would love to go back. How about, I have horrible handwriting, which is a huge challenge as teacher!

Now, please tell my readers a little bit about your book.
Highlander’s Hope is a Regency historical, though it dares to go beyond the typical trappings of the era. English propriety and Scot’s boldness class in this romantic suspense flavored with liberal doses of humor and a dash of inspiration.

Yvette Stapleton is an independent heiress, disdainful of marriage, fleeing for her life. Ewan McTavish is a titled Scotsman tangled in international intrigue and determined to make her his own. Tempers flare and sparks fly when he exploits Scot’s law to claim her as his lawful wife—without the benefit of a ceremony.

Describe the genre of this particular title, and is the only genre you write in?
Regency is a specific time period in England (1811-1820) when the Prince Regent ruled by proxy because he father, King George III, was deemed unfit to rule. It was a time of tremendous transition and extravagance. Social propriety was everything, yet immorality ran amok behind closed doors. The Highlander genre is focused on Scotland and highlights a dashing and daring highlander. I decided to combine the two.

My first three books are mixed Regency/Highlander genres. I have ideas for several more books and some are pure Highlander or Regency, and there’s even a colonial in there. I also have ideas for a historical paranormal and a contemporary. We’ll see if those pan out.

How did this story come to be?
A single scene, The Banbury Inn scene, popped into my mind one day. It played out much like a video. I built the entire story around Ewan finding Yvette in his chamber at the inn.

What is your writing routine like?
Weekdays, I’m out of bed by 5:00. After doing a few chores and working out, I either head out the door to teach, or start writing for the day. Right now, I’m doing a job share with another teacher, so I write Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings and Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. I check my emails before I start writing and also pop into a few social media sites. I almost always spend some time in the evenings writing too.

On the weekend, I try to get in a few long runs of writing because my writing actually flows better after I’m been writing for a couple of hours.

Are you a member of any writing organizations and, if so, have they helped?
I belong to RWA, The Beau Monde, Rose City Romance Writers, Faith, Hope & Love, Inc. and several writing groups through Facebook and LinkedIn.

I’ve received tremendous support and advice from RCRW and TBM. I can ask them anything and there are always several people ready to give advice and help. The authors at Soul Mate Publishing have been amazing. I never expected to have so many published authors be so supportive and encouraging.

What character is most like you or least like you?
It’s funny you ask that. A lot of my family and friends thought I modeled Yvette after myself. I didn’t. In fact, she’s much different than me, except she loves dogs. All my heroines do though I do know how to use a gun, like Yvette, and I too hate spiders. I think that’s where our similarities end.

In my current work in progress, my heroine is totally different than me. So far she’s my favorite heroine. She’s unconventional, feisty, swears, wears breeches, and is obsessed with horses. She’s also pretty darn sharp with a blade. . . . No pun intended.

What most inspires you in life?
I have much to be thankful for, and I have been so blessed. Every time I’m tempted to complain or feel sorry for myself, I remind myself, that comparatively, I have it pretty darn good! Everyday when I wake up, I ask God to help me be a light to others by being kind and encouraging. Some days I do better than others.

And because I’m a teacher, I have the privilege of molding amazing little minds. I learn far more everyday from my students than they ever learn from me.

What’s next for you?
I just contracted my second novel, The Viscount’s Vow, and am plugging away at the third book in the trilogy, The Earl’s Enticement. I do think this is my favorite book so far.

When I finish it, I have a stand-alone that’s nagging me to be written. After that, I have a six-book Highland saga I want to write.

BOOK BLURB
She was the heiress determined to never marry.

Shipping heiress Yvette Stapleton is wary of fortune hunting men and their false declarations of love. She’d rather become a spinster than imprisoned in the bonds of marriage. At first, she doesn’t recognize the dangerously handsome man who rescues her from assailants on London’s docks, but her reaction to Lord Sethwick’s kisses soon have her reconsidering her cynical views on matrimony.

He was the nobleman who vowed to make her his own.

Not a day has gone by that Ewan McTavish, Lord Sethwick and Laird of Craiglocky, hasn’t dreamed of the sensual beauty he danced with two years ago; he’s determined to win her heart. On a mission to stop a War Office traitor, he unwittingly draws Yvette into deadly international intrigue. To protect her, he exploits Scot’s Canon law to declare her his lawful wife—without benefit of a ceremony. Yvette is furious upon discovering the irregular marriage is legally binding, though she never said, “I do.”

Amidst murder and betrayal, Ewan attempts to win Yvette’s forgiveness. But is it too late? Has his manipulation cost him her love?

A little bit about the author:
In February 2011, on a whim, Collette decided to sit down and write a Regency suspense romance. She wrote Highlander’s Hope, the first book in her Blue Rose Trilogy. She has a BS in Liberal Studies and a Master's in Teaching. She's been married for 30 years, has 3 amazing adult children, and 5 dachshunds. She teaches third grade and loves it. Her puppy, Ayva, sits on her lap while she writes. Ayva also nibbles at and lies on the keyboard. Collette loves a good joke, the beach, trivia, birds, shabby chic, and Cadbury Chocolate. You'll always find dogs, birds, quirky—sometimes naughty—humor, and a dash of inspiration in her novels.

Excerpt
A sharp rap echoed at the door. Yvette breathed a sigh. Thank Goodness. Lord Sethwick wouldn’t have to answer the question after all. She raised her head and forced her gaze from the document in his hand.

He stared at her intently, then called, “Enter.”

“Lord Sethwick, please excuse the interruption,” a deep voice greeted. “‘Tis urgent I speak with you.”

Half-turning to look at the newcomer, Yvette could not contain her frightened gasp. She shot halfway out of her chair before Lord Sethwick’s hand snaked across the table and grasped hers, restraining her.

“Ewan!” In her panic, she addressed him by his given name.

“Miss Stapleton, Mrs. Pettigrove, may I introduce my associate, Trenton Carmichael?” said Ewan. “You know him as Nigel Collingsworth.”

Yvette sat down so hard her bottom smacked the chair with a stinging thud. Despite the day’s promise to be quite warm, she shivered, chilled to the bone. Searching the viscount’s face she repeated, stunned, “Your associate? I don’t understand. He was chasing me yesterday.”

Mrs. Pettigrove’s gooseberry eyes were round as the moon watching the exchange. “Mr. Collings, er, Carmichael was chasing you, Miss Stapleton?”

No one responded to her probing.

Holding Yvette’s hand, Lord Sethwick explained, “He wasn’t chasing you. Trent was trying to protect you by catching the man who was chasing you.”

“A different man was also chasing you? Whatever for?” Mrs. Pettigrove sounded envious.

Everyone ignored her.

Mr. Carmichael addressed Yvette. “I regret frightening you yesterday. It wasn’t my intent.”

Another knock sounded.

“Come in.” Lord Sethwick was less gracious this time.

Yvette managed not to gawk at the two men who entered the chamber. At least she thought she did. Faith, what handsome men. They must be friends of Lord Sethwick’s. Nobility no doubt.

“Sethwick, you rogue, keeping the arrival of your lovely bride-to-be a secret,” teased a tall gentleman dressed in black from toe to top.

Interview with Author, ELLA QUINN

Today I’m interviewing Ella Quinn. Her debut book, The Seduction of Lady Phoebe is a Regency and is being released for pre-order.

***Ella will give away one free copy today!***

Please tell my readers a little bit about your book.

Thanks for having me here, Sarah. The Seduction of Lady Phoebe is about Lady Phoebe Stanhope and Lord Marcus Finley who had a disastrous meeting when they were much younger. Ever since then Phoebe has not trusted her feelings when it comes to men. Marcus, who’d been banished to the West Indies, has returned and is determine to marry Phoebe who refuses to talk to him.

Describe the genre of this particular title, and is the only genre you write in?
The Regency period takes place during the early 19th century in England. It was when King George III was declared mad and his son, the future George IV became regent. What I love about the era was that it was a period of great change. There were some very liberal philosophers and many new ideas floating around. For young, unmarried ladies, there were many rules and restrictions, which can be great fun to play with.

How did this story come to be?
I’d been wanting to write something, but because the only thing I’d ever written was non-fiction, I didn’t know what I wanted to write. I had a video playing in my head of a lady in Regency dress pacing angrily, but I didn’t know what to do with it. Then I read an author interview where the author said, write what you read, not what you know. That liberated me to write my first paragraph. Four weeks later I had a 100,000 word first draft, but had no idea what to do next.

What is your writing routine like?
When I first started writing, I’d just sit down and write. Now with social media, book releases, and the research required for my current WIP. I make sure I make time to write at least a chapter a day if not more. It’s usually in the afternoon.

What character is most like you or least like you?
I think Phoebe’s Aunt Ester is most like me. She’s very caring and wants the best for Phoebe.

What most inspires you in life?

Life in all its aspects. I’ve had an interesting time so far.

What’s next for you?
I have two more books in The Marriage Game series going on pre-order, The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh in June with a release in November, and The Temptation of Lady Serena in August with a release date in January. My editor at Kensington has the fourth book and I’m writing the fifth. I had thought the series would end with book six, but it now looks like there will be a seventh.

My next series is tentatively titled Love in a Season. The first two books have been written but no edited.

BOOK BLURB

THE SEDUCTION OF LADY PHOEBE ~ September, 19, 2013

LADY PHOEBE STANHOPE, famous for her quick wits, fast horses, and punishing right hook, is afraid of nothing but falling in love. Fleeing a matchmaking attempt with the only man she despises, Phoebe meets a handsome blue-eyed stranger who sends her senses skittering. By the time Phoebe discovers the seductive stranger is the same arrogant troll she sent packing eight years ago, she is halfway to falling in love with him.

LORD MARCUS FINLEY last saw Phoebe striding regally away, as he lay on the floor with a bruised jaw and a rapidly swelling eye. Recently returned from the West Indies, Marcus is determined to earn Phoebe’s love, preferably before she discovers who he is. Determined to have Phoebe for his own, Marcus begins his campaign to gain her forgiveness and seduce her into marriage.

Can Phoebe learn to trust her own heart and Marcus? Or is she destined to remain alone?

~Lady Phoebe is a heroine Georgette Heyer would adore--plucky, pretty, and well worth the devotion of the dashing Lord Marcus. A marvelous find for Regency romance readers.~

Excerpt
Eight years later. June 1814, Newhaven, Sussex, England

Guy, the Seventh Marquis of Dunwood, watched as the American-made schooner approached the dock. A tall, tanned, young man in his late twenties stood at the bow, a line in hand ready to throw to one of the dock hands on the pier. He looked more like a seaman than a well-born gentleman.

His youngest son. The one, Guy thought ruefully, he hadn’t recognized two years ago, when Marcus had come to visit.

The line sailed through the air and looped perfectly around a piling. After tying it off, Marcus walked back and addressed the captain before disappearing from sight.

Not more than a half an hour later, Dunwood greeted his son. “Welcome home. You could have returned earlier.”

The good humor drained from Marcus’s eyes. “Not and have made provisions for Lovet’s family. They were left in bad straits when he died.”

Dunwood would never understand the reason this son saw the need to care for those who were not his dependents. Apparently the West Indies had more of an impact on him than Dunwood thought it would. Well, what Marcus did with his private fortune was no bread and butter of Dunwood’s. Rather than argue, he asked, “How is the new steward doing?”

His son’s broad shoulders relaxed. “Well indeed. He used to work for the Spencer-Jones family, but when their third oldest son married, the property my new steward was managing went to the son. The man came highly recommended. I made the offer before anyone else could beat me to it.”

“Good. I’m glad you were able to find someone.” Dunwood started toward the two large coaches near an inn. “Where are your trunks?”

“I’ve only one. Covey, my man, will see it stowed,” Marcus said. “How are Arthur and the girls faring?”

“Your brother is doing as well as can be expected, as are his daughters.”

Marcus glanced around to see Covey wave to him. The last time he’d visited his brother, Arthur was hale and hearty. Now he was dying of consumption. His wife had passed a few years ago leaving him two daughters, but no heir.

As a result, Marcus had been recalled from banishment. He wondered how difficult it was going to be, after all the years of being his own master, to live with his father and be under Dunwood’s rule.

Glancing around the small town, Marcus felt as if he were in a foreign country, but he’d been gone long enough. He looked at his ship, the Lady Phoebe, tied up at the dock. Perhaps too long.

Just a few fun questions to answer if you don’t mind.

1) Hotel room or tent in the woods? Hotel room. Tents hold no interest for me.

2) What’s your favorite holiday? Christmas

3) What’s your favorite thing to eat? That’s a hard one. I like so many different things. Right now I want a pizza made in Naples, Italy.

4) Who’s your favorite author to read? My absolute favorite author is Georgette Heyer. Though in the past year or so I’ve added a number of living authors to my good reads list.

5) What’s your favorite vacation spot? I live on a tropical island, so I’ll say skiing in Austria.

6) What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Chocolate with cinnamon.

7) What’s your favorite thing to drink? Wine.

8) What kind of music do you listen to? Rock and roll or blues, but I like classical as well.

9) What’s your favorite thing that comes in a bag? Jewelry

10) 7-up or Sprite? Neither, I don’t drink sodas at all. The closest thing would be naturally made ginger beer.
