INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR Christine Warner

Today I’m interviewing Christine Warner. Her book, Two-Timing the Boss is a contemporary office romance and was released in August 2012.

Please tell my readers a little bit about your book.

I live in Michigan with my husband, kids and a geriatric group of furry friends. I’m forced to work outside the home for financial reasons…lol…but would rather spend my time writing—and hopefully someday that’ll be a reality. I love spending time with my family, cooking, taking walks outside in the summer, humor, coffee and chocolate—sometimes I’m a juggler and can manage to do more than one of those at a time. lol

Describe the genre of this particular title, and is the only genre you write in?

Two-Timing the Boss is a sexy, contemporary office romance. I have another book out titled Some Like it in Handcuffs and that’s a light-hearted romantic suspense with humor. I also have another contemporary romance titled Bachelor’s Special coming out sometime this year with Entangled Publishing in their Indulgence line.

I read a lot of contemporary romance so that is normally what I tend to write.

How did this story come to be?

I was actually driving into work one Saturday morning and was thinking about my sister. We’re very close and I was struck by an idea of a story involving sisters and what lengths one sister would go for the other. Then I decided it’d be fun if the sisters were twins and from there I came up with the idea of the responsible twin getting talked into dressing in disguise to secure a job so she could help her somewhat ditzy sister afford a surgery she normally wouldn’t have been able to. Of course there had to be an office romance, a few mishaps with her disguise and a moment of discovery for both the heroine and hero.

Did you have several manuscripts finished before you sold?
The first manuscript I sold was the first book I wrote, which was Some Like it in Handcuffs. Two-Timing the Boss was the second book I wrote and I have a couple of others in progress or finished that need some tweaking J

What is your writing routine like?

Unfortunately it isn’t as organized as it used to be. Lol In the beginning stages of my writing I would write as soon as I woke up and did a few household tasks. But these days I’m that juggler person more often than not and am writing in between working outside the home on weekends, promoting my own books, and helping promote other authors with a book tour company Buy The Book Tours which I run with a good friend of mine. Now I squeeze writing in when I can, and there are days I don’t get any time in at all—which doesn’t make for a very happy juggler L lol

Having achieved your goal to be a published author, what is the most rewarding thing?
I love when a reader takes the time to reach out to me via facebook or email to let me know that they enjoyed my story. That is definitely the best thing and keeps a smile glued to my lips for days!

Are you a member of any writing organizations and, if so, have they helped?

I was a member of RWA for several years, but I let my membership lapse because all of the meetings were on weekends and I work every weekend. I do belong to a couple of very small critique groups and the women I’ve gotten to know have been invaluable. Everyone shares and helps and it’s a wonderful place to learn and grow as a writer.

What character is most like you or least like you?

That’s a toughie…there’s a little bit of me in every character. My humor, my insecurities, my strengths and weaknesses and even a few quirks.

What most inspires you in life?

Definitely my family. They are so supportive and full of desire to see me succeed.

What’s next for you?

I’m hoping to spend 2013 writing and submitting stories. I’m looking forward to my release with Entangled Publishing and can only hope that I’ll have a couple of books released this year. Fingers crossed (eyeballs, legs and arms too…lol)

BOOK BLURB

Farah Smith is on a mission: secure the funds for her twin sister’s surgery. She’ll do whatever it takes to succeed. Even if that means putting her values aside to work for a man she finds morally bankrupt. But when the real Farah meets her new boss, she wonders if she’ll be able to resist his sexy advances long enough to help her sister.

From the blonde wig, to the stilettos strapped around her ankles, Farah’s a clone of Keller Donovan’s harem of past assistants. She can’t believe she’s let herself be talked into the disguise, let alone working for the man planning to demolish the hospital her sister so desperately needs, but the salary he offers is the only way she’ll be able to afford her sister’s surgery. The moment Farah meets Keller she realizes her most daunting task isn’t typing, spreadsheets or organizing travel arrangements, but fighting the growing attraction toward a man whose ruthlessness is legendary in the boardroom as well as the bedroom.

Determined not to end up in a disastrous marriage like his divorced parents, Keller believes all relationships should have a shelf life of sixth months or less. But when he meets Farah, all bets are off. He not only wants her to continue as his personal assistant, but his own private bed warmer. Unfortunately, his offer of an affair doesn’t sit well with her fairytale dreams or the strangled hold gripping his heart.

A little bit about the author

Christine Warner is living her dream in Michigan along with her husband, three children, one laptop and a much loved assortment of furry friends.

Besides laughing and a good round of humor, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, writing but no arithmitic. A confessed people watcher, she finds inspiration for her stories in everyday activities. She loves to read and write about strong heroes and determined, sometimes sassy, heroines.

A girl gone wild, at least where social media is concerned, she enjoys meeting other avid readers and writers on facebook, twitter and her website at christine-warner.com.

Excerpt

These damn shoes would be the death of her. She could read the headlines now: Penniless P.A. Falls to her Death while on Job Interview.

Almost to her destination, with no more mishaps, her confidence surfaced. Okay, maybe mastering this heel thing wouldn’t be such a big deal. Her steps became light, almost bouncy. Although she sensed Keller Donovan behind her, she didn’t let it deter her feeling of success. She stepped onto the large black and red area rug, less than ten feet from her target. The leather chairs.

“Oh!” Farah’s spiky heel caught on the edge of the expensive rug. Her legs shook and she shot her arms out from her sides, circling them like a bird about to take flight. She fought to regain balance inside the ridiculous stilts strapped to her feet. A brawl to the death. Over when she looked down to see the rug coming up to kiss her face. She threw out her hands, sucked in a breath and closed her eyes, scrunching her face as she prepared for impact.

But nothing happened. There were stars all right, and a blazing jolt of electricity shot from her toes, up her legs, through her body and exited with the small gasp which escaped her lips. Somehow Keller Donovan had grabbed her around the waist before she met the floor.

Heat burned her cheeks. He may have saved her body from bruises, but her ego, and whatever confidence she’d walked in with had shattered.

“Let’s not have an accident before your health benefits kick in.” His breath

tickled her ear from behind. Chills hugged her backbone.

His touch released an unsettling flutter in her abdomen. She sucked in her stomach from the pressure of his strong arms wrapped around her middle, afraid to breathe.

Just a few fun questions to answer if you don’t mind.

1) Mountains or Beach?

Another toughie! Lol Depends on the time of the year, but I’d say Mountains have a slight edge over the beach

2) What is your favorite season?

I love Fall. The crisp clean air, the crunch of leaves under my feet, the colors! I look forward to it each year.

3) What is your favorite thing to eat?

LOL…another thing for me that depends on mood. I find I get a craving for something and I’ll want it for days, then I’m done and move on to something else. But I do admit there is always room for coffee and chocolate.

4) Who is your favorite author to read?

I love to read Ann Rule…she doesn’t write romance but does write excellent true crime. As for a romance author, I would never be able to pick just one. There are way to many wonderful authors out there J

5) What’s your favorite vacation spot?

I love visiting Mackinac Island. No cars allowed and it’s like stepping back in time. And the fudge…we won’t even talk about it or I’ll be making the 5 hour drive to get some! lol

6) Movies- Drama or Comedy?

Mostly I prefer comedies, but again it depends on mood. I don’t give very easy answers do I? lol

7) Coffee or Tea?

I think you already know the answer to this one! lmbo
